Horse Around
After School

    Horse Around After School

WHERE?  540 Wright Road, Aongatete  (follow your GPS, and please take care at the SH2 intersection)
WHEN?  4-5.30pm.  First day is Wednesday 13th Feb, continuing each week until Wednesday 20 March (total of 6 sessions).
We will run regardless of weather, though if it looks horrendous I might postpone to the following day if possible.  Unfortunately due to my very busy teaching schedule locally and around NZ, I cannot extend out or provide alternate/additional dates due to weather or missed sessions etc.
BRING?  Sunblock already applied. Drink bottle and snack if needed.  Closed shoes or boots.  Long pants.  Sunhat and/or rain coat!  A helmet if they have one, but if not I have a  small selection of sizes.

THE PROGRAM: This is a unique opportunity for your kids to spend time with the Positively Together horses, learning how to care for and train them. This is not a "learn to ride" course, it is so much more. Kids will be participating in and learning about every aspect of horse care, from grooming and feeding and paddock care, to horse behaviour and reward-based training on the ground and in the saddle. We will spend a lot of time focused on how to get motivation and cooperation from our horses by setting them up to be happy and successful, without the traditional training tools of escalating pressure and punishment.  The emphasis is on kindness, empathy and respect for our animal friends and for each other.

Parents may stay and watch if they wish (the tack room has a fridge and kettle and a small amount of seating).  I would prefer you didn't bring a dog with you, but if you need to do so it must be safe, non-distracting and must stay on lead at all times.
